ABOUT TAYLOR

Taylor’s interest in the built environment stems from an early fascination with exploring how things were built and their function in everyday life.  Constantly disassembling things to understand their mechanics, as a child, projects were often taken apart with the reassembly left for later.  Over time, that exploration evolved into building: first by putting things back together and as he matured, then creating new work from scratch.  There was a sense of freedom and creativity that came from the tangible results of his constant tinkering.

Welding was his first professional job in the construction industry, and after time he transitioned into residential construction where his focus was primarily on single-family homes.  While earning a master’s degree in architecture at Montana State University, Taylor continued to hone his skills as a craftsman working as a framer, constructing homes across the Gallatin Valley.

When not working at the firm, Taylor spends his time either on the lake water skiing and wake surfing or in the mountains, mountain biking and dirt biking in the summers.  In the winters, skiing and snowmobiling fill his evenings and weekends.  He is sponsored by Polaris as a professional snowmobile hill climb racer during the winter and spring RMSHA series, and has achieved much success in his 4 years of competition.

After 5 years as an employee, Taylor became a partner in Stillwater Architecture in January of 2026 to the great satisfaction of the original two partners.  Taylor’s contributions to the firm and it’s work are exceptional, and he greatly adds to the strength of the firm and will be a guiding hand for the future.

His work is driven by an interest in how architecture can create a strong connection to, and help shape, lifestyle. His homes are designed not just to function, but to enhance the way people want and choose to live; supporting how they gather, relax, and pursue their hobbies and interests.  Creating highly personalized, well resolved homes that reflect a homeowner’s passions are what Taylor finds most meaningful in the design process.
